Wanneroo Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a Teacher for the colleges Senior School Engagement Program. Appointments are part-time 0.6 FTE over three days Monday - Wednesday.
The successful applicant will be part of a team of eight staff, including a Campus Manager and a school officer. The Senior School Engagement Program is located at our Joondalup Campus in Onslow Place Joondalup. The students in this program attend school three days a week and on the other days they are engaged in work experience, traineeships or work placement. It is expected that the students in the program have excellent attendance and attain WA Certificate of Education (WACE) at the end of year 12.
It is highly desirable the successful applicant has the ability to teach to the highest standard and to design programs that engage students in teaching and learning and enable them to maximize their talents and potential. We expect staff to work both independently and collaboratively when using data inform planning, and contribute to vibrant co curricula and extra curriculum programs in the school. Previous experience in delivering Cert II Workplace Skills, Essential Maths, General English and Career and Enterprise will be viewed favourably. An understanding and compassion for teaching Students at Education Risk (SAER), including Gatekeeper and Mental Health First Aid is also highly desirable.
Wanneroo SC, an Independent Public School, is a co-educational Secondary School catering for 1350 students from years 7 to 12. The Joondalup Campus has been in operation for sixteen years and caters for around 90 senior school students in six classes. Our staff are dedicated and hard-working, sharing a strong collegiate spirit and a school ethos that encourages and rewards effort and excellence.
Our stated aim and over-riding desire is to have all of our students leave school work competitive and well prepared for their chosen futures, equipped to prosper in life, be literate and numerate and able to incorporate the use of technology in their day-to-day lives, be happy and secure in themselves, ready to contribute to the community and to excel in whatever pathways they have chosen.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
