The Role
We are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant – Learning Enhancement to support our Secondary students to reach their full potential. The Teaching Assistant - Learning Enhancement role works closely with classroom teachers to provide targeted assistance to Learning Enhancement students, facilitating language development and academic success. Please note that this position is a Term 2, part time (4 days per week) contract role.
To be successful you will be committed to getting the best outcome for all students with a focus on implementing strategies that assist in meeting their needs. You are able to communicate and work with a broad range of people in a professional manner. You will be able to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with classroom teachers to assess the needs of Learning Enhancement students and develop personalised support plans.
Assist in planning and delivering instructional activities that promote language acquisition and comprehension for EAL and Learning Enhancement students.
Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions to Learning Enhancement students, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Adapt and create instructional materials to meet the linguistic proficiency levels and cultural backgrounds of Learning Enhancement students.
Support Learning Enhancement students in accessing and understanding classroom content, including assignments, lectures, and assessments.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where Learning Enhancement students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
Collaborate with other school staff to address the holistic needs of Learning Enhancement students.
About you:
Previous experience in a similar role desirable
Professional and courteous manner with parents, staff, students and visitors to the College
Certificate III in Education Services
First Aid Certificate including CPR
Must hold or be qualified to obtain current Blue Card
Experience supporting EAL students would be advantageous.
