RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years since it was founded in 1870. A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other states around Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850M, 12 wards and 350 beds. Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

About the Role:

This is a Permanent Full Time role within the ICT department at The RCH. As the Team Lead Clinical Applications, you will be responsible for managing the development, implementation, and ongoing support of RCH's Clinical Applications (e.g., IBA, PACS, EMR) in alignment with the RCH Digital vision and strategies. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality and efficient Clinical Applications to contribute to exceptional patient care.

In this role you will be required to guide the Clinical Applications team in adhering to IT Service Management best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement for increased performance and effectiveness of Clinical Applications services at RCH.

What You'll Achieve:

  • You will provide strategic direction and vision for the Clinical Applications team, aligning their efforts with the overall RCH Digital vision and strategies.
  • You will oversee the development and implementation of project plans for new Clinical Applications or updates to existing ones, ensuring they meet the needs of the healthcare professionals and contribute to exceptional patient care.
  • You will foster a collaborative and positive team environment, encouraging innovation and creative problem-solving to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Clinical Applications services.
  • You will inspire and motivate the Clinical Applications team, promoting a shared sense of purpose and commitment to delivering high-quality services.
  • You will Identify areas for improvement in processes, workflows, and system configurations, and lead initiatives to optimise and streamline operations.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Substantial experience of managing stakeholders at different levels within an organisation with the ability to listen and understand, build trust, establish relationships, negotiate and influence outcomes
  • Experience of working in Business Analysis and Service Management 
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of enterprise applications and integration with core business application services
  • A good understanding of the technologies used in the health sector (EMR, medical machinery, patient booking systems, etc.)
