Permanent Full Time, Level 7-8, $67954 to $70923 pa + super
Light Regional Council are seeking an experienced Civil Construction worker to lead its Civil Construction Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of the re-sheeting program involving the addition of 80,000T of rubble onto the road annually.
Based within the Infrastructure and Environment Department located in Freeling, you’ll report directly to the Coordinator of Civil Construction. Your leadership will be integral in ensuring the program’s efficiency and effectiveness by mentoring the team to successfully execute Council’s Capital Works Program.

Our primary offices are located at Kapunda and Freeling, approximately an hour north of the Adelaide CBD with great connectors such as the Northern Expressway and Gawler Bypass, it is an easy and enjoyable drive. Our area is rural, features 46% of the internationally renowned Barossa Valley, some iconic historic townships and settlements including Kapunda and Greenock, as well as rapidly expanding developments, particularly the Roseworthy Township.
What the role entails:
- Leading the Civil Construction Team in the day-to-day operations to deliver Council’s Civil Capital Works Program.
- Undertaking construction of council’s road infrastructure network.
- Ensuring safety systems are maintained within the team.
- Flexible working hours which may include weekends and after hours.
- Driving a positive culture within the team.
What we are looking for:
5 years’ experience in Civil Construction or similar role
- Minimum HC Licence and experience working with earthmoving and associated plant and equipment, with relevant tickets.
- Competency or Licence in Grader Operators (highly desirable)
- Cert IV in Civil Construction Supervision or equivalent (highly desirable)
- Experience in a leadership role (highly desirable)
- Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic, with an ability to maintain diplomacy and professionalism with a customer service focus.
- General police employment probity and/or working with children check.
