This full-time position is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about Community Services and building a cohesive team that supports Council’s objectives, strategies and policies.
The role will assist in the management of our close-knit Community Services team with an active and visible role in community, cultural, recreation and economic development to ensure that the needs of the community are met through appropriate responses developed in conjunction with management, key agencies and individuals within the community.
In this role, you will report to our Director Corporate and Community and be part of a well-resourced team.
To assist you in performing this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as community development, business, economics or marketing and/or experience in a related field at an appropriate level.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing & leading community related activities and programs.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, guiding and supervising the activities of small team including work flows, budget monitoring and performance evaluation.
- Effective communications skills including experience in writing high level reports and conveying information to individuals and groups.
- Competent in the use of corporate and generic computer based programs.
- Hold and maintain a current drivers licence
The West Tamar Council area includes the western side of the kanamaluka/Tamar Estuary from the suburban area of Riverside in Launceston and Trevallyn (part), extending north to Bass Strait and as far west as Frankford. Our Riverside Office is 8 minutes’ drive to the Launceston CBD.
