Here is an exciting chance to help lead a new project focused on giving youth an opportunity to explore pathways in the music, creative and entrepreneurial industries.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The BEATS Team Leader will facilitate this new After School program, working with vulnerable young people, aged 10-17 years. The Team Leader will provide a safe learning environment to support the diverse learning experience of young people to engage in innovative ways to use IT, Multimedia, and Audio-Visual Technology such as podcasting, radio, social media, photography, video, and music production.
The program will run After School hours, with working hours being 3pm - 8pm, three days per week.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Essential
- Extensive knowledge and experience of IT, Multi Media and Audio-Visual Technology.
- Knowledge of music industry production and equipment
- Knowledge of social media platforms
- Knowledge of audio and video apps and software
- Ability to facilitate group workshops and training experiences.
- Certificate III in Youth Work or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the needs and issues facing young people today.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and liaison skills
- Ability to write objective and accurate case notes, case plans and reports.
- Knowledge of the principles relating to confidentiality and duty of care.
- Current C class driver’s licence
- Working with Children Suitability Card & Police Check
Desirable
- Degree or tertiary qualification in Teaching, Human Services or similar would be preferable.
- Experience working in a youth-related service with vulnerable and complex young people.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Proven ability to deliver training to young people with diverse learning needs through the facilitation of a safe learning environment which considers management of appropriate behaviour support.
- To plan, prepare and deliver high quality IT, Multi Media and Audio-Visual teaching which meets program requirements as per funding contract.
- Employees who work with students have a special responsibility in presenting themselves as appropriate role models for those students.
- Demonstrated experience in partnering with local organisations to implement projects which support the vulnerable people.
- Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills, including report writing and conflict resolution skills, and a sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of practices to engage and assure the cultural safety of clients from a diverse range of backgrounds, including those from an Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or CALD background, or the LGBTIQA+ community.
