What are the roles?
The AFP is looking for highly motivated, skilled, enthusiastic and customer focused individuals to fill immediate roles at the Band 7 level and form a merit pool for future roles within the team (nationally).

  • Team LeaderHealth Information Systems - 1 position
The AFP is embarking on major initiatives to use information and data to proactively identify and disrupt criminal activity; and the introduction of big data platforms and related information programs necessitates stronger information, records and data management skills. We seek a qualified, highly motivated senior Information Management and Health Information career specialist to assist us.
You will contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicants will be capable of delivering and supporting the responsibilities of the position and meet the requirements outlined below.
Team LeaderInformation Management
The Information Management unit sits within the Chief Information Officer (CIO) portfolio and champions the AFP's digital capabilities by implementing Information Management initiatives to support the goals of the agency.
The Team LeaderInformation Management will play a key role in shaping the delivery of significant programs of work to mature the enterprise-wide information, records and data strategies with a focus on implementation of modern practices, systems and initiatives.
The duties of this position include delivering work as part of a team to:
  • Lead and support facets of the implementation of enterprise information and records management solutions to reduce cost and complexity, increase trust and integrity, and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Support the Coordinator to review and implement AFP Information Management strategies, policies and guidelines, in line with digital transformation activities, modern practice and compliance requirements.
  • Lead and oversee the administration of the AFP's Digital Records Management Solution (DRMS).
  • Lead the consultation and requirements gathering initiatives to support develop compliant, innovative and user-centric solutions to information and records management challenges.
  • Contribute to business improvement activities with a focus on digitising and streamlining legacy processes and practices.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and support to AFP staff and stakeholders on information, records and data management matters.
  • Coach, lead, mentor and develop team members as required
Team LeaderHealth Information Systems
The Team LeaderHealth Information Systems plays an integral role in strengthening the AFP's Health Information and data landscape. Supporting the Health Information Management Steward, it is responsible for implementing Health Information and data strategy, governance and compliance and service delivery. The role will monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and governance requirements. The Team LeaderHealth Information Systems works in partnership with executive leadership and internal and external stakeholders, including the Chief Medical Officer and the Health Governance Team, to identify and effectively mitigate Health Information and data risks across the risk management lifecycle and contribute to improved governance and practices.
Specific duties include, but are not limited, to:
  • Develop and implement a Health Information and data action plan that shapes Health Information and data collection, classification, usage and sharing
  • Contribute to relevant leadership and technical forums as a Subject Matter Expert to meet business and strategic objectives
  • Support the transition to technology-enabled health Information Management systems and practices
  • Responsibility for Health Information and data legislative, regulatory and governance compliance
  • Provide recommendations to the Health Information Management Steward regarding Health Information and data sharing and release
  • Plan, lead and monitor Health Information, data, and privacy activities
  • Provide high-quality advice and insights on Health Information and data compliance, policies, and practices
  • Develop high-quality business documentation, including (but not limited to), executive briefings, progress reports, presentations, governance, risk assessments, implementation plans and other communication
  • Coach, lead, mentor and develop team members as required
Essential Requirements
For both positions:
  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Formal qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution or extensive demonstrated equivalent skills and experience in information and records Management.
  • Demonstrated Team Leadership and mentoring experience.
  • A demonstrated aptitude of adaptability in the use of different technologies in an administrative capacity.
  • Evidence of an ability to complete tasks independently, and work as a member of a proactive and virtual team.
Team LeaderInformation Management:
  • Demonstrated practical expertise in one or more specific information or records management disciplines (For example eDRMS, information governance, records management, metadata management, document and content management, information architecture) and the proven ability to apply compliant solutions to meet business needs.

  • Remote working from home arrangements from any location in Australia will be considered.
