About the role
In this role, you will develop and implement a range of key projects and priority initiatives associated with strengthening the provision of early childhood services throughout the municipality. You will build and strengthen the department's capacity to provide high quality, integrated early childhood services, which engage children, families and the community. The role will support the development and implementation of quality improvement plans and processes that improve outcomes for children and their families, ensuring that early childhood services are responsive to the needs of all children and their families.Work type: Temporary Part Time (2 days per week) - 24 months
Classification: Band 7 $100,064 - $110,990 (pa pro rate)Key responsibilities include:
  • Highly developed skill and commitment to integrated practice models and multi-disciplinary service delivery including compliance requirements.
  • Exercise leadership and accountability of service quality in the development, implementation, evaluation of Family services.
  • Provide support to the Family Services Coordinators in relation to the Quality Assurance, service improvement and strategic planning of early childhood services.
  • Lead the review of policy and practice with a focus on continued quality improvement and improved outcomes for children and their families.
  • Support and advise early childhood practitioners, including kindergarten teachers, educators and support staff in relation to compliance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations, Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Children Youth and Families Act 2005 and National Quality Standard and other relevant legislation, service guidelines and regulations.
  • Facilitate and oversee projects in response to emerging needs and identified service gaps to achieve best practice in early childhood service delivery and maintain compliance.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong understanding of Early Childhood Education, including all relevant regulations, National Quality Framework and Early Years Frameworks. You will have experience leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team, be passionate about Early Childhood Education and achieve great outcomes for children, with high levels of patience, resilience and a continuous improvement mindset.Essential Experience:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Early Years (eg Diploma / Bachelor of Early Childhood Education)
  • Current Working with Children Check or Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) Registration
  • Sound working knowledge of the National Early Childhood Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Regulations, Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Children Youth and Families Act 2005, Department of Health and Human Services standards and National Quality Standards.
  • Sound knowledge of current research, literature, and practice that supports the delivery of high-quality early childhood education, health, and well-being programs.
  • Quality assurance experience around policy development and compliance with regulations, and funding requirements
  • Clear understanding of the principles and models of integrated practice, and multi-disciplinary service delivery in children's services.
  • Knowledge of project management methodology, quality improvement and strategic planning processes. Detailed knowledge of the early childhood and family services sectors.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process.
