We are currently looking for a Team Leader - Transfer Stations & Landfills for an immediate start.

The Team Leader Transfer Stations & Landfills is responsible for providing effective and efficient day-to-day supervision and leadership to the staff working at the eight waste Transfer Stations, and active and closed landfills in the provision of waste and recycling services to meet the needs of the local community, and for ensuring compliance with obligations contained in our clients Environmental Authority.
Your new role
- Manage the efficient and effective operations and maintenance of the waste Transfer Stations and two landfills including both active and closed.
- Monitor the effective operations of the Waste Transfer Stations and landfills by providing direction, guidance and establishing safe work practices, rosters and procedures to meet the needs of these facilities.
- Accountable for the implementation and maintenance of sound risk management processes within the areas of responsibility and in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the supervision of employees and relevant contractors.
- Maintain work rosters as required and any appropriate records.
- Ensure the Waste Transfer Stations are in a clean and safe state.
- Carry out planning, organising, supervising and monitoring of staff for the efficient and effective performance of the waste management facilities.
- Provide effective supervision of employees, including performance management and appraisals, on the job guidance and encouraging them to carry out their duties in the most productive, safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure the waste transfer operations comply with Standard Operating Procedures, the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and their Environmental Authority and other permits.
- Conduct weekly compliance and environmental audits across all waste Transfer Stations and landfills and provide recommendations and implement solutions to address identified issues.
- Assist with the accurate collection, analysis and reporting of waste and environmental data.
- Participate in the development of budgets to ensure efficient, effective management and control of expenditure in accordance with the established budget and their purchasing policy.
- Operate various plant and equipment (e.g., skid steer and loader) and be responsible for ensuring appropriate repairs and maintenance are undertaken at the facility.
- Provide timely and accurate advice to customers, ensuring a quality customer experience in accordance with the Customer Experience Standards.
- Providing effective leadership and staff capability development to ensure alignment with the values, achievement of organisational KPI’s and a positive contribution to a dynamic workplace culture.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with the community and key stakeholders that contribute to positive outcomes for the community.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven ability to effectively communicate and negotiate outcomes with staff, contractors, customers and stakeholders at various levels
- Supervisory skills and experience leading a diverse team
- Knowledge of waste, environmental and WHS legislative requirements for waste service activities would be highly advantageous.
- Experience in compliance/housekeeping auditing to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects within agreed timeframes.
- Certificate III in Waste Management, Frontline Management or equivalent experience.
- Plant Operator tickets for Skid Steer and Loader.
- Queensland Construction Induction card
