Apprenticeship Careers Australia have a new opportunity for a Laboratory Technician trainee to work with one of our well established, heavy industry Host Employers located in Port Kembla. This business processes and recycles slag products from BlueScope Steel, generally for use in the Illawarra.
As part of the Quality Assurance team the primary responsibility is to conduct accurate and timely laboratory testing of slag products to ensure quality standards are achieved. You will be supporting the site’s production activities in manufacturing specialty products.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE
Raw Material Analysis: Conduct precise analysis of natural materials to ensure quality standards are met, contributing to the production of top-tier products.
Sample Collection: Play a crucial role in sample collection procedures that take place on-site all whilst adhering to strict protocols to guarantee accurate production.
Data Entry: Maintain correct records through accurate and timely data entry, ensuring the integrity of laboratory documentation.
Testing of Products: Carry out product testing with precision, employing a variety of laboratory techniques to guarantee the highest quality standards.
Assist in Testing and Measurement: Collaborate with qualified senior laboratory staff to assist in various testing and measurement procedures, gaining exposure to a wide range of analytical techniques.
Organised Workplace: Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment, promoting efficiency and safety in all tasks.

WHAT IS THIS TRAINEESHIP?This traineeship opportunity will last a duration of 24-months. During the time of the traineeship you will be working full-time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday where you will be trained and mentored in your job role.
We are looking for a candidate that is flexible and willing to work early mornings and afternoons if required. Hours will differ.
During your working week you will be allocated 3 hours paid study to work toward completing your Certificate III in Laboratory Skills.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS- Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen
- Drivers Licence and Vehicle is required
- Not have any previous qualifications exceeding a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills.
