Job description

  • 8 month engagement + extensions
  • Candidate must be in Canberra
  • Candidate must be an Australian citizen

The role

The successful candidate is required to have appropriate skill set to engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to address business pain points, conduct impact analysis and will be required to develop detailed requirements and workflows/diagrams following standards/guidelines, enabling end-to-end traceability, and describing what success of the requirements looks like. The successful candidate should have a soft approach, be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Project Manager ensuring the project is delivered on-time within scope and within budget.
  • Produce supporting technical specifications such as interface specifications, page definitions and data mapping & data migration rule specifications.
  • Simplifying complex technical concepts into clear and understandable language for non-technical staff.
  • Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure requirement dependencies and impacts are accurately mapped and agreed.
  • Facilitate workshops with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify, define, and validate requirements to inform the solution design and guide recommendations.
  • Conducting user needs investigations, offer advice on process improvements and technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand end-to-end processes to support effective solutions and determine and resolve issues.
  • Assist the project to analyse and map current processes and notifications to enable software and applications to be migrated without loss of functionality.
  • Investigate and advise on data integration and technical alignment with internal systems and externally with other systems.
  • Work collaboratively with developers and testers to ensure successful implementation of business requirements.
  • Providing ongoing support and troubleshooting for technical issues to the project team and business areas.
  • Accountable for delivering agreed outcomes and providing expert advice and support on standards, programs, policy, legislation, systems and/or processes.
  • Lead and exemplify a healthy and safe working environment, modelling and promoting ethical behaviour and practices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in a Business Analyst role for application implementation and system upgrade projects with a minimum of five years' experience as a Technical Business Analyst.
  • The ability to translate technical concepts into clear and understand language for non-technical staff.
  • Experience working on Systems replacement project, web application and system integration.
  • Experience in using JIRA or similar tools as part of Prince2 Agile project delivery to create and manage features, user stories, product backlog items and bugs.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC)
  • Experience coordinating and leading consultation with internal and external consultants to elicit user and business requirement.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead workshops and engagements with business and IT stakeholders to elicit, capture and document business processes, requirements, rules, and acceptance criteria and translate into solution requirements and user stories for MVP and future enhancements.
  • Comfortable working with people across all levels of an organisation, including senior executives.
  • Proven expertise in conducting pre-analysis of upcoming requirements to advise business and technical teams if changes are feasible or to the technical teams to take design considerations for upcoming requirement.

Desirable

  • Experience working with event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with metadata management and data transformation.
  • Experience with Jira

Essential criteria
