How will I help?
This role is part of our EmPower Up return to work program, created for people who have had career break of 2 years or more and are now looking to return to the workforce.
Your role as a Technical Lead will be responsible for anticipating issues and problems that may impact the Westpac Group's performance. Together with other members of the support team, you will create intellectual frameworks for the future and articulate the connection between the framework and its application across the organisation. This role will develop solutions that reflect the organisation's value chain between the delivery of service and the customer.
Your role will include:
- Conduct system maintenance, including implementation of business recovery, disaster recovery and continuity plans and conduct resolution of incidents and problems to ensure systems operate as required.
- Provide the business with a professional service by ensuring requests are regularly updated and realistic resolution times are provided.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rosters to provide immediate application support in the event of a service disruption or issue and enable the achievement of service availability and service level requirements.
- Engage with and influence development teams working on system change to ensure operational readiness dimensions meet required standards to maximise stability following system change.
- Execute change and continuous improvement initiatives to enable proactive identification and resolution of root causes for application problems and incidents.
- Monitor system performance against SLAs and investigate and report any discrepancies and/or business impacts to the affected business unit.

What do I need?
- At least 5 years in a technology development or Technology support role (s) such as Technology Production Support, or in Software Development.
- The skills that are considered valuable to the success of this role include: Deliver effective solutions and business processes to provide BAU and project support for customers' requirements and objectives.
- Expert knowledge of UNIX commands & shell scripting and/or constructing Splunk queries
- Experience in Monitoring & Health-Check of UNIX based environments including Oracle database/IBM MQ Series.
- Support of Prod/non-Prod environments on High Availability and Disaster Recovery
- Diligent and proactive in finding and resolving issues.
- Professional and deadline driven.
- Experienced in working with a diverse range of people (e.g., front office, back office, Finance, Infrastructure, Compliance, Risk);
