As a Technical Officer, you will:
- Provide technical expertise for the School’s teaching programs.
- Complete set up and pack down of practical classes and examinations, simulation mannequins, anatomical models, clinical equipment, and associated consumables.
- Understand local processes, prepare standard documents, manage records, regularly track progress of work tasks, and identify key issues.
- Provide support and advice to staff and students regarding the ordering, management, safe use, and disposal of chemicals, biologicals, equipment, and consumables.
- Recognise the importance of teamwork and of effective communication amongst team members and build rapport within immediate team and diverse range of stakeholders in ways that are respectful and a of expertise clarifying expectations and responding promptly to resolve technical problems, issues, and requirements to ensure client needs met to agreed standards and timelines.
- Contribute to maintenance of research and teaching facilities by performing regular housekeeping tasks.
- Monitor and maintain occupational health and safety requirements with regards to laboratory practices, including conducting regular inspections.
- Provide administrative support for staff working at the Rural Training site in Ararat.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
- Completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience working in a laboratory setting, ideally within a tertiary education environment
- Good knowledge of OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards
