Thrive.Elders has invested $25 million to establish a world-first, wool handling business and is looking for a Wool Technical Officer to become part of our wool team located in our newly built, state-of-the-art, warehouse based at Ravenhall Melbourne.About the roleWe are looking for a Wool Technical Officer to join the growing team on a permanent, full time basis.An Elders Wool Technical Officer supports the wool team coordinating the weekly wool auctions, helping to market our clients wool in a timely, efficient, and professional manner with importance placed on accuracy and meeting deadlines.Responsibilities
- Code classers specifications to ensure clips are lotted and presented for sale correctly.
- Apply accurate AWEX ID and help calculate wool appraisals.
- Work as part of the sales team at the weekly wool auctions
- Provide technical and marketing support and advice to clients, District Wool Managers, Wool Sales Manager, agents and the branch network
About you- An understanding of wool brokering and the wool industry.
- Wool technical skills and knowledge of the value of various wool types
- Sound organisational and time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in shearing sheds or on rural sheep operations is desirable
- An understanding of how a rehandle or reclass facilities operates
- Competent computer skills
