The Role
The Joint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU), part of the Explosive Ordnance Branch (EOB) within the Joint Logistics Command (JLC), is seeking agile and enthusiastic Explosive Ordnance Technical Officers who possesses strong technical, communication and interpersonal skills within a commitment to achieving organisational goals and objectives. Importantly, they will have the ability to develop good relationships and support networks across a wide array of stakeholders.
This role is centered on supporting Guided Weapon and Explosive Ordnance test engineering and operations within an accredited engineering management system. The roles closely collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Range Trials Officers in the delivery of GWEO test. Responsibilities include enhancing test capabilities, designing test equipment, developing test methodologies, and interpreting test standards.
Employment at Port Wakefield and Graytown includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance, $309.85 and $184.44 respectively per fortnight. Each location maintains a range of amenities including a gym and swimming pool and sauna at Port Wakefield.
About our Team
Joint Proof and Experimental Unit Explosive Ordnance Technical Officers work within the Joint Proof and Experimental Headquarters in support of guided weapon and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) test. They support the Operations, Engineering and Capability Teams covering a wide array of test activities.
Each team directly supports GWEO test including test equipment and specification design, investigating explosives ordnance failure modes and creating test system delivery. The Teams play a crucial role in supporting all operational activities within the three Test Units.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in test operations, project management and technical design covering a wide range of explosive and mechanical test systems. This includes weapons, targets, and support systems. A knowledge of test design, mechanical and Explosive Ordnance systems and measurement practices would be beneficial. An understanding of Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies would also be advantageous.
Our ideal candidate is a Technical Officer who can adapt their current skill sets to the Explosive Ordnance test domain. The successful candidate takes the initiative to achieve quality operational and test outcomes; focusing on supporting the management of the operations and engineering system. They will be dynamic and keen to continuously improve systems and processes in an effort to ensure that lean methodologies are used by the team and organisation.
The successful candidate will be proficient in the use a wide range of tools to aid in carrying out their work such as Microsoft Office tools, modelling applications and other IT systems.
