EPSA is seeking a Technical Services Superintendent to be employed by the company on a full-time permanent basis. This is your chance to unlock your full potential and make a lasting impact. You will work within a high performing team.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be an integral member of the senior site management team at Commodore Mine.
The Commodore Mine feeds the Millmerran Power Station exclusively.
About the role:
- Coordination of technical mining activities in relation to mine/dump design, planning, scheduling and coal blending activities by prioritising resources, equipment and people.
- Produce and oversee the implementation of medium and short-term mining schedules and plans (Monthly 3MRP, Weekly, Daily).
- Oversee drilling and blasting activities carried out by Blasting subcontractor.
- Monitor and manage mine surveying functions and ensure compliance to survey practices.
- Maintain an understanding of ROM coal quality to facilitate the delivery of coal to the Hopper which achieves the contract specifications.
- Carry out continuous mapping of the mine pit.
- Technical input and review of the Annual and Life of Contract Mine Plans.
- Participate in regular client and internal meetings to address ongoing mine planning methodologies, and strategies.
- Ensure regular engagement with production and maintenance personnel to ensure mine plans practical/implementable and reflect the efficient use of available plant.
- Ensure regular engagement and work collaboratively with site Technical Services personnel and provide mentoring in technical development.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and company standards.
- Ensure that appropriate risk mitigation strategies are identified and make recommendations
- Prepare periodic reports and systems of measuring progress in the Technical Services functions.
- Lead the review of the existing engineering practices to understand where, when and how we can continuously improve.
To be successful you will have:
- Generic Surface Induction - Standard S11 SOA
- S123 & G2 or G1289 – Supervisor Competencies
- Current Australian Drivers Licence.
- Bachelor’s degree in mining or civil engineering or equivalent mine planning experience.
- Minimum 12 years Open Cut Coal mining experience with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in
- Experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against targets.
- Experience with Mine Planning/Scheduling packages such as Deswik, Spry, Vulcan, XPAC.
- Knowledge of the relevant regulations, guidelines and Australian standards.
- Analytical and strategic thinking as well as problem solving and lateral thinking
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills as well as the ability to drive performance with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Current Coal Board Medical, or willingness to complete along with a Pre-Employment Medical.
