About the role
We are delighted to announce that we have a vacancy for a Blast Technician to service our Customer sites in the Mount Isa Region.
Typically our Blast Technicians are proven and advanced level senior Shotfirers who are now ready to take their careers in a technical direction. Our Blast Technicians are the face of our company, and assist our Customers and operations teams by providing technical expertise and input on blasting on a variety of client mine sites. They play a key role in optimising and revolutionising the way our Customers mine, and play an important role in bringing our technology to life on our Customer sites all over the world.
The roster will be 8 on 6 off, FIFO out of Townsville. Our preference is for candidates who reside in Townsville but consideration will be given to other major hubs.
What you will be doing
- Managing technical blasting projects to deliver value to our customers;
- Hands on implementation of the latest in blasting technologies such as WebGen (wireless blasting initiation systems) and 4D (bulk delivery systems);
- Working with our Customers to prioritise projects whilst utilising our global network of experts to deliver these projects;
- Developing long-term partnerships with Orica's Customers
- Supporting our Customer's blasting technical requirements;
- Managing our Customer technical relationship and managing your time to engagement and interface with key sites;
- Taking accountability for delivering outstanding results;
- Continually improving your technical expertise in our products and services.
What you will bring
- 5+ years shotfiring experience using electronic blasting systems (Open cut or Underground) and/or Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline;
- Solid technical experience in drill and blast, preferably within varied sites and environments in mining;
- Solid understanding of mining, including the cost and profit mechanisms of mining;
- An ability to work autonomously, and with limited direction as well as part of a tightly functioning team;
- Experience in managing environmental conditions including vibration, fume, dust and noise for neighbouring towns and properties;
- Commitment to partnering with customers and your team, always accountable for your actions;
