Our client is a local government authority responsible for the central area of Sydney, Australia. This includes the city's central business district (CBD) and surrounding inner-city suburbs. They are tasked with providing a range of services and support to the community, including infrastructure maintenance, waste management, cultural events, community services, and urban planning.
  
About the Role:
  
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Test Manager to join our team in Sydney for a 12-month contract. This pivotal role involves leading our SQL Server upgrade project, specifically upgrading to SQL Server 2022. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SQL upgrade projects, hands-on database testing, and experience in managing UAT phases.
  
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage SQL upgrade projects, particularly upgrading to SQL Server 2022 (preferred) or any SQL version.
• Oversee and manage UAT (User Acceptance Testing) phases.
• Perform hands-on testing related to databases.
• Conduct hands-on database testing.
• Manage onsite and offshore teams (preferred but not essential).
• Implement and oversee automation testing using Play (preferred but not essential).
• Utilize expertise in "In Place" and "Side by Side" SQL Server Upgrade methodologies.
• Develop and explain test strategies and methodologies based on previous project experience.

About you:

• Proven experience with SQL upgrade projects.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in managing UAT phases and database testing.
• Experience with onsite/offshore management (preferred).
• Familiarity with automation testing tools, especially Play (bonus).
• Clear understanding and experience with "In Place" and "Side by Side" SQL Server Upgrade methodologies.
• Ability to articulate and explain test strategies and methodologies used in previous projects.
