Therapy Assistant - Part Time (Wednesday and Friday)
Who we are
The Subiaco Convent is home to the religious Sisters of St John of God (SSJG) and is located in Subiaco. It is a privately funded residence and not a registered aged care facility, however many of the Sisters are ageing and require services similar to those in an aged care facility.
Position
We are seeking the services of a part time Therapy Assistant to join our valued and skilled therapy and broader multi-disciplinary team. The role is for 14 hours per week over Wednesday and Friday with the flexibility to work additional days to assist with leave relief.
Reporting to the Occupational Therapist you will work closely with the other members of the Therapy Team in providing excellent therapy services to the Sisters by undertaking group and individual activities and outings. You will need to have a passion for the elderly and enjoy working as part of a team in providing services that maintain the Sisters individuality and enable them to continue to live fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and assist the Therapy Team in conducting activities for the Sisters in individual or group sessions correctly and safely including external outings
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in ensuring that the records, statistics and progress note information is completed accurately
- Assist with Sisters personal care needs relevant to therapy services.

Requirements for the position
- Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or higher/equivalent
- Experience in a similar role in an aged care facility preferred (Occupational Therapist Assistant or Physiotherapist Assistant)
- Able to relate to elderly people with empathy and compassion, particularly those with dementia
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to implement relevant therapy programmes
- Ability to collect, collate and report on data and statistics
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, whilst participating in a multi-disciplinary team
- Flexibility to work extra hours to assist with leave relief
- Support the Mission and Values of the SSJG Ministries Inc.
- Have full Australian working rights and able to pass a National Police Clearance
- Evidence of COVID and Influenza vaccination status
