An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Town Planner to work across a National property portfolio.
You will advise and assist with planning applications, advice and strategic planning. You will assist with problem solving council related matters and will draw on your experience and understanding of council authorities to take action.
The role will require you to assist in the preparation, submission and follow up of development applications with local government and other statutory authorities. You will manage relationships with third parties to ensure outcomes are met on time with required outcomes.
The Town Planner will be required to provide general planning advice in relation to the existing property portfolio and potential acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of applications for small to medium-sized projects, including preparation of town planning reports
- Working with the design documentation team to meet time frames and deadlines
- Briefing reporting Manager of relevant background material
- Ensuring all relevant issues are identified and addressed prior to submission of applications to Council
- Providing timely and accurate advice and responses to queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Monitoring and reporting on the progress of development applications
- Liaising with stakeholders including local government departments, external consultants, and other relevant parties
- Ensure accuracy of applied legislation associated with applications
- Review and provide advice in relation to proposed development plans
- Attending and presenting at various meetings, including mediation and planning appeals, if required.
- Keeping up to date with legislation associated with land use
About You:
- Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or planning related discipline
- 5-10 years of Town Planning experience, including preparation and / or processing of statutory planning applications
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Outstanding problem-solving, influencing and negotiating skills
- Attention to detail in producing accurate, thorough, and quality reports
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Advanced)
- General understanding of and ability to read plans
- Ability to review and interpret planning related legislation
