About the position
We are currently seeking a motivated Town Planner with at least 1 year Australian experience to be part of our team. This role will be based in Wynnum and will entail a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to:
- Preliminary research into the development potential of a site,
- Providing guidance and advice to clients and stakeholders so that they may achieve desired development outcomes,
- Preparation and management of Development Applications across all Queensland Councils,
- Undertaking compliance assessment of development approvals and lodging “Plan Sealing” applications,
- Assisting clients in undertaking post approval applications, including changing approvals and negotiating conditions,
- Preparation of fee proposals and management of billing,
- Management of consultants including surveyors, engineers, building certifiers and contractors,
- Participation in property networking groups to promote our services and establish industry relationships,
- Occasional administrative jobs where necessary, including answering phone calls.
Skills and Experience
Applicants will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a similar degree,
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role,
- Experience preparing and managing Development Applications, particularly in South East Queensland,
- A good understanding of the Planning Act 2016, Development Assessment Rules, Planning Regulation 2017, State Development Assessment Provisions, State Planning Policies and various local planning schemes,
- The ability to work in a multi-discipline industry with an understanding of the role of external consultants,
- A class C open driver’s licence,
- Clear and concise written and verbal communications skills,
- Experience in report writing and proficiency in office programs,
- Experience with CAD software will be valued,
- A friendly attitude and the ability to work in a team of planning professionals.
You must be self-motivated, proactive and flexible in your approach to work, possess good analytical skills and have the ability to apply lateral thinking to solve problems as part of a team of likeminded professionals.
