Our client are a large grower, miller, refiner and marketer of sugar and related products. The company is one of Australia's largest cane growers and owns and operates sugar mills in Queensland.
As the cane crushing season is fast approaching, we are on the look out for two Traffic Officers to assist with scheduling operations of cane transport. While this will be a seasonal role from be from approx. April through to December the opportunity is there to get work in the off season for the right candidates.
Some key responsibilities will include:
- Control of the safe and efficient movement of track mounted vehicles, maintenance personnel and third-party persons across the cane rail network.
- Perform prompt, timely, clear and relevant communication with and between locomotive crews, line maintenance crews, harvesting operators, grower service officers, mill supervisors and other personnel regarding harvesting and transport issues.
- Develop and adjust schedules during the crushing season to meet the requirements of the mill and growers.
- Observe closely all performance, rates of production, equipment performance, quality control criteria and losses and record and report all observations.
- Prepare and distribute a range of administrative reports associated with the cane transport function
- Supervision of timesheets and associated administrative tasks for cane transport personnel.
The successful candidate:
- Strong levels of enthusiasm and drive.
- Self motivated and able to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Have the ability to organise own work and prioritise to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in the use of MS office suite
- Prior experience in the sugar industry and/or rail logistics highly regarded
- Be available for shift work - day, afternoon and nights
- Have a commitment to adhere to high safety standards employed by RSM People and the host employer
- Be able to pass a pre employment D&A screen
