Our long-distance train services provide critical connections to family, friends, holidays, work and medical care.About our TeamAs the Train Technician (relief) you will play an integral role in fault finding, trouble shooting and rectifying problems with equipment and power supply on board our long-distance Travel Trains. You will join a team that consists of 4 experienced Train Technicians however whilst on board you will be the only technician so you will need the ability to work autonomously.As this role is based at Roma Street Station in Brisbane, you will primarily work on board the Spirit of the Outback (Brisbane to Longreach) and the Westlander (Brisbane to Charleville) where you can expect to be away for up to 4 days at any given time.This is a permanent full-time position which will consist of a variety of start and finish times as well as weekends and public holidays so flexibility is required in this position.Why join our team?
- The annual salary is $92,600 (including electrical licence allowance) plus 12.75% super. Including allowances (travel, away from home, meals, call out, weekend and public holiday work) a Train Technician can earn up to approximately $140,000 per year + 12.75% super.

- Manage the power car (air conditioning and lighting) and ensure the equipment (air conditioning, water, lighting and catering equipment) is reliable
- Check the cleanliness of the train and the operation of all inservice equipment and facilities at regular intervals and rectify any faults
- Communicate faults and problems on board the train and record in the relevant logbook
- Perform other duties as required such as providing general customer service, checking tickets, loading and unloading of customer baggage and completing general cleaning duties
- Work a roster that will include a variety of shift times across the week, weekends and public holidays
- Previous experience in diagnosing and repairing transport air conditioning systems and electrical generating power supply systems.
- An ability to think on your feet to rectify faults and respond to the unexpected
- A safety conscious attitude
- Exceptional customer focused attitude coupled with strong communication skills to ensure a positive experience for our customers.
