Earn while you learn! This unique and exciting traineeship role within Council’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Services is the perfect opportunity to start your career here!
A traineeship combines full-time employment with paid training and on the job experience. As a Trainee Geospatial Technical Officer, you’ll perform a range of duties using geospatial technologies and specialised software.
What is Geospatial Technology?
Geospatial technology is deployed by a wide range of users for environmental management, urban planning, mapping city sprawls and in designing informed decisions. A geographic information system (GIS) is a framework for gathering, managing, and analysing data. Utilising the science of geography, GIS integrates many types of data. It analyses spatial location and organises layers of information into visualisations using maps and 3D scenes. With this distinctive capability, GIS reveals deeper insights into data, such as patterns, relationships, and situations—helping users make smarter decisions. GIS technology applies geographic science with tools for understanding and collaboration, helping people to gain actionable intelligence from all types of data.
