About the Role
We are looking for four highly motivated individuals to join Project teams within our Copper South Australia Asset. You will be part of a highly capable team, learning from experienced project professionals, helping you to jump-start your career within BHP.
As a Trainee, you will be provided with the opportunity to independently manage work, contributing to the team’s success. Critical skills will include a willingness to actively learn, whilst showing curiosity, initiative and searching for continuous improvements.
This 12-month “earn while you learn” traineeship provides an entry pathway to a permanent, full-time Project Officer role with BHP’s Projects team.
The traineeship will provide invaluable on-the-job experience, exposure to our world class business and education through study time while at work. BHP are also committing to providing Trainees with ongoing Cultural support and mentoring.

Responsibilities include:
- Following the BHP Charter Value and Policies;
- Working safely and developing knowledge towards health, safety, environmental responsibility;
- Working with an assigned mentor and with dedicated, Cultural support;
- Completing assigned tasks and seeking development opportunities within the workplace;
- Assisting the assigned team in delivering projects;
- Sharing own thinking and experiences to add value to the business;
- Adhering to daily and weekly routines as stipulated in the OD Indigenous Project Work Pack Operating Model; and
- Providing feedback to mentor, line leader and peers to assist in the continuous improvement of the program
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- A strong work ethic with high motivation to learn and develop new skills;
- Computer literacy and ability across MS Word, MS Excel, and the internet;
- Good verbal and written communication skills with education level to Year 12 (or completion of Year 10 with a willingness to complete an online language / numeracy assessment); and
- The ability to foster a teamwork atmosphere.

This role is based in Adelaide CBD on a Monday to Friday roster, offering a quality standard of living without the high costs of most other Australian capital cities.

This role also includes regular site travel and work at BHP worksites, participating in our operational activities as you learn more about our business.
