Form of workOur client, Australia's largest, family-owned food service distributor is seeking a dynamic leader to join their team as Transport Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the transport department, ensuring procedures and regulations are adhered to. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining high standards of safety, service and efficiency as well as providing guidance, training and support to all transport staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure deliveries are made in a correct and timely manner, maintaining customer satisfaction
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules and build strong relationships with maintenance providers
- Coordinate routing of trucks and staff for maximum delivery and service efficiency
- Ensure compliance with relevant Acts and ethical standards, including legal obligations
- Oversee staff evaluation, recruitment, and training processes, maintaining adequate staffing levels
- Demonstrate solid knowledge of OH&S regulations, including driving breaks and manual handling
- Maintain compliance with the HACCP system
- Manage wages, budgets, and freight charges within established guidelines
- Collaborate with Supervisors, Warehouse, Sales and Workshop Management for effective coordination.
To be successful, you will have:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record in leading and motivating teams
- Excellent communication skills to communicate at all levels
- Exceptional time management and ability to perform effectively under pressure
- Proficiency in routing systems (transit) and MFG -PRO
- Comprehensive understanding of HACCP and OH&S regulations
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and capable of addressing logistical challenges efficiently
- Dedication to providing end-to-end service excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction.
