Description
This role is responsible for Transport Operator duties. Overall, the key areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinate with customers to facilitate timely deliveries, proactively addressing any issues and proposing corrective actions as needed.
- Promptly advise carriers of time slot requests and ensure accurate delivery addresses while monitoring vessel arrivals and wharf availability.
- Track and chase Less than Container Load (LCL) availabilities from depots.
- Input available dates, outturns, and Proof of Deliveries (PODs) into Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
- Monitor customs and quarantine clearance processes and keep shipment status information updated for both planned and actual deliveries.
- Liaise with transport carriers, warehouses, third-party logistics providers (3PL), and clients for smooth and punctual deliveries.
- Actively communicate any issues, such as delays or cancellations, to clients in a timely manner, including suggesting corrective actions.
- Maintain and update delivery reports for major clients, providing quotes or rates when required by clients or internal teams.
- Proactively chase original Bill of Lading (BOL), Electronic Data Interchange Order (EDO), and Cash on Delivery (COD) prior to the estimated time of arrival (ETA).
To be considered for this role you will have/ be:
- Freight forwarding/ logistics experience is a must.
- Experience in dealing with port-to-port shipments is required.
- Experience with CargoWise is desirable.
- Driver's Licence.
- Proficient in using MS office and general computer skills.
- Mathematical and logical-minded.
- Time management and the ability to work to meet strict deadlines.
- Communication and dispute resolution skills
