We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Tech Officer –  Weight and Balance Assessor to join our UH-60M Black Hawk team.
 

Your responsibilities will include:

As a key member of our team, this role holds responsibility for planning, coordinating, directing and/or performing engineering assignments involving specifications for, and design changes or alterations to, aircraft, engines, systems, components, and field or shop equipment. You will evaluate, select, apply and/or adapt engineering modifications; design or recommend new or modified parts and components and analyse reparability of parts and components.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
 

  • Reviewing Technical Information and processing TIR in Emerald2
  • Liaise with Aviation Standards and Maintenance Organisations on the coordination of Weight and Balance duties between the UH-60M System Program Office, Maintenance Organisations and aircrew.
  • Manage any computer tools used for administration of Weight and Balance.
  • Perform any Weight and Balance audits required by EMS procedures.
  • Providing advice on changes to GSE and S&TE
  • Assisting other Technical Officers with conversion of US Army safety messages and OEM service bulletins into ADF format.
  • Soliciting technical advice from OEMs and US Army
  • Investigating Defect Reports
  • Providing of technical advice to Military Air Operator
  • Developing non-standard maintenance instructions and promulgating in ADF format (i.e. Letter of Authority)
  • Authoring content for changes to maintenance publications and collaborating with publications team on technical writing and publication functions
  • Collaborating with logistics team on alternative sources of supply for certain items
  • Assisting Design Engineers with Supplies Acceptance of externally-approved designs

About you:

You will have significant experience in aviation maintenance and be self-motivated and results driven. You will also ideally hold a Cert IV or above in a relevant discipline (Aeroskills -  Mechanical, Avionics or Structures) from a recognised institution.

To be successful in this role you will also have:
 

  • Strong experience in Aircraft Weight and Balance management and regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive experience in aviation maintenance.
  • Strong computer literacy with an ability to produce, analyse, and interpret complex reports and information
  • Well Developed skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications
  • Significant proven experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a Defence System Program Office environment is also highly desirable.
  • Training and qualifications in Aircraft Weight and Balance meeting IATA standards.

Special Requirements:

Applicants are required to be Australian Citizens and hold a current or re-instatable NV1 Defence Security Clearance or be eligible to gain this.

The location of the role will be Victoria Barracks, Queensland.
