mprs is looking for a UI / UX designer to redesign our music royalty administration portal. We’re looking for an opinionated, independent worker with broad experience in product and design to overhaul our product from the design system up.

About the Project

Our current site is a single page app with a basic bootstrap theme. It’s served us well but now we’ve proven out the value of our product and want to overhaul the design for a growing customer base. We need something that:

• Looks sleek and professional (i.e. not our engineer’s bootstrap template)

• Can present a lot of complicated information clearly

• Acts as a foundation, i.e. a design system we can use to build future functionality.

The ideal deliverable would be an overhauled design system as well as a re-design of the current portal using the new design system. The current portal consists of 5 or 6 fairly complicated pages. You would work closely with our principal engineer on implementation and have extensive access to all stakeholders for requirements gathering. We’d like to accomplish this in roughly 2 months, but can be flexible on timeline.

Who you are

• You have 4+ years experience in UI, UX, product, and/or web design.

• You have strong convictions about your work and make decisions in service of clear objectives, not generic design dogmas.

• You like to work independently. You reach out to the relevant people on your own when you need information, guidance, or feedback. You don’t need (or want) to be checked in on constantly.

• You have experience extending and / or building design systems, you think of design in terms of building blocks and how they relate to each other to form a whole.

• You know how to structure a lot of complicated and varied data in a simple and intuitive way.

• Your designs look good on the page, they’re “hip.”

• Your designs account for real world conditions: long load times, unusually large strings, errors, etc.

Nice-to-haves

• You’ve worked on B2B / SaaS / dashboard products.

• You have experience with data visualization, related libraries.

• You have experience in the music industry.

• You’re good at picking and pairing fonts.

• You have experience building responsive, mobile-friendly designs.

• You won’t try to implement Tailwind.
