AddressBe a key member within the pre-contracts team, responsible for managing the utility balance-of-plant (BOP) procurement. This role includes planning procurement needs, sourcing suppliers /subcontractors, managing tender process through to award, and minimising gaps in scope/ risk. There is a strong emphasis on experience with management and construction of large scale/utility projects with the flexibility to handle smaller, complex, customised projects.
- Strategic Sourcing: Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers. Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as cost, quality, and delivery timelines. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Procurement Planning: Collaborate with internal departments to understand their procurement needs. Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational and project-specific objectives. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or discrepancies. Conduct regular supplier evaluations to assess ongoing suitability.
- Contract Management: Ensure contract is appropriately selected to manage Tesla's risks and gaps are minimized between upstream and downstream agreements. Coordinate with key internal and external stakeholders to lead teams through negotiation to execution. Identify opportunities for contract improvement, optimization, and implement lessons learned.
- Cost Control: Implement cost-effective procurement processes and measures. Analyze pricing trends and negotiate favorable terms to achieve cost savings. Monitor and manage procurement budgets.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and organized procurement records. Prepare reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance. Ensure documentation complies with audit requirements. Ensure records are available to support detailed handovers to deployment.
- Coordinate closely with Business Development Managers and Sales Engineers to communicate risks effectively to management for quick consumption and expedited decision-making.
This is a diverse role where knowledge of basic design rules, constructability, permitting, utility requirements, and engineering fundamentals for utility scale as well as smaller complex projects is expected. - BS in an engineering discipline, business, supply chain management, or equivalent
- Proven experience in a similar procurement role
- Solid understanding of procurement processes, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and documentation skills
- Experience with fast-paced organisations
- Ability to understand contractual mechanisms
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Some interstate travel to be expected
