This part time role is to deliver front line customer service for Moira Shire Council and enhance the visitor experience to our beautiful region.
Week 1: 9:00-17:00 Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Week 2: 9:00-17:00 Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
some of the key duties will include:
- Maintain supplies ensuring sufficient and quality information and brochures are available for customer enquiries at all times
- Provide a general information service through telephone, email, face to face, or other contact points to internal and external customers.
- Provide tours of the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre and history talks.
- Provide accurate advice and quality visitor information and a professional and courteous manner, promoting a positive image of Council at all times.
- Liaise with the Tourism Unit, Local Tourism Associations, community groups and local businesses to ensure quality delivery of Visitor Services.
- Undertake open and closing procedures of the workplace.
ABOUT YOU
You will be a customer focused person with a passion for bringing tourism to our region.
To meet the criteria of this role, you must have:
- Ability to represent Moira Shire in a professional and positive manner and deliver a high level of customer service to visitors, community and business representatives, and other staff members.
- Experience in tourism, customer service, travel or events management and/or other relevant experience in a similar role.
- Tourism knowledge and/or experience relevant to Moira Shire and the wider Murray region
- Possession of excellent computer skills and experience of website management and online bookings
- Ability to be flexible and to work without constant supervision, maintain confidentiality and work effectively and contribute to a team
- A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse groups and to work effectively with ambassadors
- A demonstrated commitment to the provision of high quality customer service

ABOUT THE ROLE
Moira Shire Council is seeking a dedicated Visitor Services Officer to join our team at the picturesque Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre. This is a part-time position (.8 FTE) with set shifts, providing you with the perfect balance between work and personal time. You will be the main staff member working from the Centre and this will offer you the opportunity to foster the Centre with your own success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with visitors and locals to provide a unique and informative experience.
- Run tours of the Centre, providing information about the beautiful Barmah Forest National Park.
- Promote tourism within the region by offering insights and guidance.
- Support the local community through various initiatives and programs.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level proficiency with computers and their related programs.
