ABOUT MHF:

Mackay Hospital Foundation (MHF) is a not-for-profit, or more accurately, a ‘for purpose’ organisation based in Mackay, supporting public hospitals and community health centres in the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions. 

We are based at Mackay Base Hospital where we oversee a range of multi-faceted areas of our business which includes but not limited to: fundraising, event management, grant applications and grant funding, volunteer management and coordination.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Primarily, you will be welcomed as a valued member of a small team at MHF who work from Mackay Base Hospital in West Mackay. 

You will need to be an organised individual to coordinate and provide assistance to our large and continuously growing volunteer base. Our volunteers are essential to providing the services we offer and are vital to our organisation. Not only will you be the first point of contact for our current volunteers, but you will also be overseeing the recruitment of new volunteers by completing the interviewing and screening process, ensuring they complete an induction process, matching them to best-suited roles and maintaining the volunteers’ approach to improving the hospital experience for everyone who walks through our hospital doors.  

This role is a full-time, permanent position with the expectation of flexible work hours during exceptionally busy periods throughout the year.  Flexible overtime is compensated with TOIL (time off in lieu).

ABOUT YOU:

• Have basic Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Prioritise and organise your work independently and as part of a team.
• Have a friendly, welcoming, and respectful personality with a strong focus on positive community engagement.
• Display empathy with volunteers and appreciate their requirements. Previous experience in similar roles would be highly regarded. 
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a pleasant telephone manner, as well as the ability to manage information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity.
• The capacity to inspire and motivate others.
• Have an Australian Driver License.
• Be willing to travel throughout the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday Regions as required.
