Kyabra Community Association Inc. is a strengths based organisation that provides integrated responses to people in our community. We work with individuals and families with sometimes complex issues which may include support and advocacy through the systems which significantly impact on individual and family lives, such as; domestic violence; child protection; income support; housing; mental health and healthcare; disability; education and legal.
This position will sit within the Group Work & Training team, and will work closely with the Intake & Assessment team (and other Kyabra staff) to monitor trends of queries and requests that come from community members with a view to addressing emerging unmet needs in the community, to develop and support appropriate sustainable responses. Specific responsibilities include:
- Provision of information to those seeking services
- Supporting community members to access a range of Kyabra services and other community-based services
- Working within the local community to establish connections and to implement responses to local needs, with a particular emphasis on supporting community members who are feeling isolated and/or lonely
- Facilitating and supporting group activities for community members, where a need has been identified
- Together with other relevant staff, recruitment, training and maintenance of a group of volunteers with an interest in local community engagement.
Experience and knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, community-based resources, local services and information pertaining to specific needs of community members (eg. NDIS, housing, parenting supports) is an essential requirement for this role.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 5 ($47.50 - $49.65 per hour). A Bachelor Degree in Social Work/Human Services or similar is an essential requirement for this role, as well as demonstrated experience in Community Development, community engagement and volunteer coordination.
