About the role
Working across the Acute medical wards, including specialtiies of Oncology, Cardiology, neurology and general Medicine. Applications are invited from Ward Clerks to join the team. This position is predominantly weekend shifts with some weekday evenings shifts (up to 32 hours per fortnight). there will be the opportunity to work additional hours through leave replacement shifts.
The successful applicant will provide efficient and effective professional administrative support & reception duties, delivering a customer focused service to patients, their families & visitors, and facilitate accurate data entry of patient activity.
Applicants must be a team player, who is empathetic and believes in a holistic approach. Excellent clerical, communication and time management skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Acknowledge patients and visitors upon their arrival into the department, adrdressing any needs they may have.
- Schedule patient appointments and transfer times accurately and efficiently.
- Entry of data for Admissions, Discharges, Transfers, and Urgent Care Centre attendances
- Verify personal information of patients Verify personal information of patients.
- Working with patients to complete documentation including signing of admission forms.
- Provide administrative support to the leadership team and clinical staff.
Skills and experience
- High level of customer service & communication skills, with previous experience in administration and reception.
- Excellent all-round IT skills and data entry skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload and to remain calm under pressure, and client focused.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records.
- Prior experience in a health setting would be advantageous but is not essential
- Ability to take direction and work positively in a team environment.
