About the Opportunity An outstanding opportunity exists for an experienced contract manager to join our Waste Service team at Georges River Council and deliver innovative services that promote and support our community. The Waste Contracts Officer will oversee numerous existing waste collection, processing and disposal contracts and will also be responsible for procuring new contracts and services. Permanent, Full-Time – 70 hours per fortnight Salary from $91,283.24 - $105,765.05 per annum plus 11% superannuation 9-day fortnight subject to operational requirements, meaning every second week could be a four day week! Key Accountabilities Provide end-to-end contract management services, which may include developing tender specifications, engaging contractors, monitoring and managing performance depending on business and internal customer need. Manage waste collection and tipping budget(s) and purchase orders by overseeing contractor invoices, including invoices for tipping, and collections payment, while monitoring and updating expenditure and monthly tonnage reporting. Regularly liaise with contractors to understand service delivery, monitor performance and issue warnings/contractual penalties for service failures as appropriate. Develop contract management process and procedures including contract cessation and commencement plans. Procure new contracts in accordance with Council’s Procurement Policy. Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in related field (environmental management, procurement, tendering or contract management) and/or significant relevant waste contract management experience. Current Class C Drivers Licence. Highly developed communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ability to observe details, record information and develop databases in an accurate and legible manner to inform operational improvement from contractors. Sound level of computer literacy including the ability to analyse and interpret statistical data and use an iPad, mobile phone, camera, Microsoft Office Suite, and a diverse range of other systems and technology independently and effectively, and to adapt to technology changes and updates where required. Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills and ability to liaise effectively, professionally and build relationships with external customers and groups, internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work autonomously with minimum direct supervision to meet given targets. Ability to work collaboratively and contribute proactively within a team environment.
