About Market Development Facility (MDF)
The Market Development Facility (MDF) is a multi-country initiative which promotes sustainable economic development, through higher incomes for women and men, in our partner countries across the Indo-Pacific.
We support partners from business and government to identify and grow commercial opportunities that are profitable, scalable and deliver social and of environmental value.
MDF is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) and co-funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) in Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu. It is implemented by Palladium in partnership with Swisscontact.
RoleTo provide expert guidance and support on MDF's new website design and development projects in line with current design trends, engaging and fully compliant with MDF/DFAT guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director Communications and wider communications team to understand website design project requirements and objectives.
- Work with the Communications team to design and develop a new, visually appealing, user-friendly website from concept to deployment, based on MDF's requirements.
- Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes to present design concepts.
- Optimise websites for performance, responsiveness, and accessibility across various devices and browsers.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations to enhance website functionality and user experience.
- Perform back-up checks on the website, and regularly clean disk space to reduce the documents saved online, following MDF document management guidelines.
- Support the MDF team in front end maintenance e.g.: thumbnail optimisation, accessibility changes, and uploading, downloading, and organising content for the website media library as required.
- Develop documents/tutorials to guide steps for website back-end use, taking the teams through processes or lead any web back-end training sessions as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Web Designer and Developer or similar role.
- A portfolio of websites designed for a range of clients, including business and non-profit.
- Proficiency in design and development software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI principles and best practices.
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and web hosting platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in computer science, Web Development, or related field preferred.
- Experience with DFAT as a client and an understanding of market development (MSD) programs will be considered an asset.
