The opportunity
As an experienced Work Health and Safety professional you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our people. Your expertise will ensure ReturnToWorkSA’s System of Safety is aligned with the principles and processes of ISO 45001, meets all legislative requirements and is effective in delivering on our risk appetite of zero harm for our employees. You will provide expert advice, build staff capability and lead the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
The position
Reporting to the Manager Human Resource Services, this role serves as a pivotal position, acting as the subject matter expert and providing counsel to the business to help maintain a healthy and safe workplace.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, monitor and audit the Work Health and Safety Management System and ensure its continuous improvement.
- Assessment of risks and proposal of appropriate mitigation measures
- Ensure the organisation is legislatively compliant
- Act as an Advisor to the Health and Safety (HS) Committee, HS Representatives, First Aiders and Wardens.
- Build leader and employee capability in WHS best practices
This role will be a part-time position working 30 hours across 4 days a week.
About you
You will have a proven track record in WHS program implementation coupled with a thorough working knowledge of WHS Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards and the ability to interpret. You will be Return to Work Certified coupled with solid organisation skills and ability to prioritise to meet conflicting deadlines. Your strong communication skills will provide you with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.

Special requirements/Conditions
- Tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety or extensive experience in this discipline
- Qualified Return to Work Coordinator
- Experience with Tableau or other reporting tools (desirable)

The total remuneration package for this position is between $90,940 - $95,656 (exclusive of superannuation). The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills and experiences.
