SlashDot Web Development is looking for a part-time candidate to help out with all things web dev. The role would be 3 days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) with you working from our Richmond office on two of those days. We are looking for someone with experience, strong organisation skills and an attention to detail.
The role would cover all facets of WordPress development and Maintenance and you would be dealing direct with both customers and fellow team members. The position would give you differing workloads and tasks from building and managing a website to addressing a myriad of WordPress related issues.
We are looking for a positive attitude and someone ready to take on new challenges and skills. The ideal candidate would meet all of the below technical and personal requirements and be able to provide some feedback as to how you achieve this criteria.
In your resume please also include at least 5 examples of WordPress website’s you have recently built with brief notes on how each project was completed.

Technical Requirements:
Expert in all things WordPress
- Building, managing and maintaining all aspects of a WordPress website
- Creating templates from scratch using themes such as Understrap
- Creating custom Child Themes using existing themes such as Salient
- Diagnosing and fixing WordPress issues covering: General errors, configuration, plugins, theme problems, hosting, security hacks and more
- Use / Configuration of Caching systems
Extensive knowledge with the following WordPress systems / Plugins:
- Advanced Custom Fields
- Gravity Forms
- WPBakery Page Builder
- WooCommerce
General developer skills covering:
- PHP development
- JavaScript / jQuery
- HTML and CSS
- Taking graphic design and building a lean, fast, responsive Wordpress template from either a custom template or using an editing system such as WPBakery Builder
General Web skills:
- Testing skills - Be able to thoroughly test projects in a number of resolutions, devices and browsers each and every time
- WHM / cPanel management covering: Database Management, PHP / Server Configuration, Email management, FTP
- Domain name management
- Ability to isolate, crop and compress correctly sized images from programs such as Photoshop.
- Google Chrome – Code Inspector
- Backups / Revisions management
Experience with the following software / services:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Basecamp
- Code Editing Software (Such as Notepad++)
- FTP Software (Such as FileZilla)
- Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
- Password Management Software (Like LastPass)

Hardware / Software Provision:
- We are able to provide you with a suitable laptop if required (or you can use your own)
- All required software / Systems (such as Windows, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Email etc) will be provided via us (where required)
- Our Richmond Office will also provide you with dual external monitors, keyboards and mice (if they are required)
Position Type:
Part Time / 3 days a week (8 hours each day)
Trial Period:
The successful candidate will undergo a three-month trial period before the part-time job is confirmed.
