About the opportunity

The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Laing O’Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Workforce & Industry Development Manager to join us on the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance. This is an opportunity to make a different within the construction industry.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of EBTA’s Workforce and Industry Engagement strategy.
• Lead the development of programs to support EBTA’s direct and supply chain workforce requirements.
• Oversee supply chain workforce reporting and monitoring of workforce outcomes.
• Lead engagement with EBTA’s education partners.
• Ensure workforce development programs support EBTA’s diversity and inclusion objectives.
• Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with EBTA and LOR stakeholders including leaders and community groups.

About you

• Minimum of 3+ years experience in a similar role.
• A tertiary qualification in either Human Resource Management, Training and Assessment, Social Impact or equivalent
• Experience managing and monitoring data, reports and implementing business initiatives.  
• Experience within the construction industry is ideal
• Experience in managing multiple stakeholders, clients, organisations and providers to facilitate employment and procurement outcomes
• Preferable - experience and understanding of cultural norms in working with diverse and disadvantaged groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities
