About the role
We are seeking a Workplace Health and Safety Manager to join our dynamic team at AEA Support. As the WHS Manager at AEA, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and managing our safety programs and policies.
Reporting to the P&C Manager, you'll lead our efforts to foster a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and legislation.
We're seeking someone with an eye for detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of WHS legislation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Policy Development and Compliance: Create, review, and update WHS policies to meet legal standards and industry best practices.
- Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments, devise mitigation strategies, and integrate them across departments.
- Safety Training and Culture: Provide comprehensive safety training, promote a strong safety culture, and keep training materials current.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and enhance incident response protocols.
- Regulatory Liaison: Stay updated on regulations, liaise with authorities, and act as the primary contact for regulatory inquiries and inspections.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct safety audits and inspections, generate detailed safety reports, and communicate findings.
- WorkCover Management: Report incidents to government agencies, collaborate on return-to-work plans, and provide cost-minimising recommendations.
- Strategic Leadership: You excel in coordinating and monitoring the WHS Management Plan, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with Animal Emergency Australia’s Business Plan. Your strategic vision drives the organisation towards a safer future.
- Legislative Knowledge: You possess an in-depth understanding of WHS legislation and regulations. Your proficiency enables you to maintain and update WHS systems effectively, ensuring full compliance with legislative changes.
- Safety Initiative Implementation: You have a proven track record of assisting managers with safety initiatives. Your experience includes developing comprehensive training programs that empower employees to embrace safety as a core value.
- Consultative Approach: Your strong consultancy skills enable you to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. You're adept at improving and maintaining safe work practices across the organisation through open communication and collaboration.
- Training Expertise: You have the capability to develop and deliver engaging safety induction training for new team members and contractors. Your training programs ensure that everyone is equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely.
- Policy Development: You're a leader in developing and implementing WHS policies and procedures. Your expertise ensures that policies are not just compliant but also practical and effective in promoting a culture of safety.
- Risk Management Skills: You possess a deep understanding of risk management principles, particularly in areas such as PPE and Return-to-Work strategies. Your insights help minimise liabilities and create a safer work environment for all.
