About the role
Join our dynamic team at RSPCA Queensland as the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager, where you will report to the General Manager: People & Culture. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture that prioritises safety for both our people and the animals in our care. Your responsibilities will include reviewing, establishing, and upholding the highest standards of safety practices across our Queensland sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing advice on health, safety, injury management, and workers' compensation.
- Managing Compensation Claims, Return to Work and Policy Renewals.
- Guiding teams in the identification, assessment and control of workplace safety, environmental hazards, and investigation of incidents. Subsequent reporting of incidents in accordance with relevant health, safety & environmental Standards and Legislation.
- Build capability in Managers and Supervisors to ensure safety standards are met.
- Implementation of updated safety frameworks and systems
- Monitor and report on data to inform the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
- Undertake internal audits, safety & environment inspections to ensure legal compliance, best practice, and continuous improvement.
Who are we looking for?
- Have minimum 5+ years WHS experience.
- Proven ability to understand, apply, and communicate complex WHS processes.
- Knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Qualifications in WHS or equivalent experience.
- Current Driver's License (essential).
- Ability to conduct incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Understanding of WHS and Environmental Management systems.
- Experience providing advice on health, safety, injury management, and workers compensation.
- Understanding on how to build capability in Managers and Supervisors.
- Strong skills in data presentation, interpretation, and analysis.
- Flexibility, commercial awareness, and a practical approach to WHS.
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills.
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills.
This is a full-time, permanent position based at the Wacol Animal Care Campus. Remuneration is commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.
