The Role:
We are currently looking for a Lawyer/Associate to join our high performing WorkCover Insurance team in Melbourne. The position will work closely with experienced and respected Partners and colleagues on a range of interesting and complex Statutory Compensation and Common law damages matters.
The successful candidate will ideally have at least 2+ years PAE but other areas of experience may also be considered. You will be driven to exceed deadlines and targets in order to align with the competitive direction of Thomson Geer and the Insurance group, and in return you will work alongside a dynamic and collaborative team as well as experienced and proactive secretarial support. Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Possess experience dealing with Statutory Compensation and Common law damages matters;
- Demonstrate a client focussed approach with superior organisational skills as the work is deadline sensitive;
- With appropriate mentoring and supervision have the ability to work relatively autonomously and handle files and matters independently.
- Have excellent attention to detail, analytical skills which will be backed up by strong academics.
- Be familiar with Workers compensation legislation and case law.
- Knowledge of the Transport Accident Act.
- Possess a genuine interest in insurance law and a desire to further your career in this area; Litigation experience will be highly regarded.
