GEBIE Civil & Construction undertakes Civil and Construction projects across the Groote Archipelago and has a commercial workshop for vehicles, plant, and equipment.
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced Workshop Manager to work with the GCC staff and the community in delivery of our operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring jobs are delivered on time and within budget in a safe working environment.
The role is based on Groote Eylandt on either a Monday - Friday roster with accommodation provided in Alyangula or on a FIFO basis.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Manage the maintenance and repair of our fleet of light vehicles, general plant and heavy machinery.
- Be fully conversant with the appropriate vehicle/equipment specifications for each project undertaken and ensure all staff have current and accurate documentation to complete tasks.
- Manage a team of up to 5 employees including timesheet approval, leave coordination, identifying training needs, conducting performance reviews, and recruitment as required.
- Liaise with the Workshop Administrator to schedule repair and maintenance activities, assist with customer enquiries, ordering of materials, ordering of parts, raising quotations and accurate and timely invoicing.
- Assist in the development and training of staff, particularly providing opportunities for Indigenous staff.
- Ensure the workshop is kept clean, tidy and hazard free.
- Good understanding of OHS in a busy mechanical workshop
Skills and Experience required:
- Mechanical trade qualification
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Effective leader with sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Experience in parts planning for multiple jobs
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong team player, with a flexible and positive attitude
- Computer literate (MS word, excel, and inhouse ERP system)
- HR Drivers licence
- White Card – Construction (or willing to obtain)
