We are currently seeking a Full Time Fixed Term staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated person to support young people through the development of new programs and projects that will achieve positive outcomes for young people and their wellbeing. This position will work in the Young Communities team within Youth Services and report to the Team Leader Young Communities. It will both support the Young Communities and wider Youth Services team.

We are seeking a passionate and proactive worker who can bring their skills and experience to help BYS achieve outcomes related to:

  • The delivery and continuous improvement of Council youth services, within a strengths based, evidence based and community development framework;
  • The development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of a range of outcomes focused initiatives that address the wellbeing needs of young people particularly through building resilience, promoting health, supporting access to services and creating opportunities for civic engagement.
  • Partnerships with relevant stakeholders, addressing actions aligned with Council's strategies that focus on young people and their wellbeing.
  • Advocating for, and supporting Council and external stakeholders to engage with young people in a meaningful and youth-friendly manner in line with Child Safe Standards, to ensure that young people's voices are represented in decision making and in the development of new initiatives.

The role involves, but not limited to:

  • Community engagement
  • Program design, delivery and evaluation
  • The collection, analysis, interpretation and use of data.
  • Supporting tertiary placement students
  • Delivering online health promotion campaigns
  • Networking & Advocacy

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Local knowledge of Brimbank and issues faced by its young people.
  • A strong understanding and facilitation of Youth participation, design thinking, co-design and engagement tools and approaches applicable to young people
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • The ability to work under minimal supervision, managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising workloads effectively;
  • A proactive approach
