Job description

About the applicant (you)

  • Aequalis has an established community in the Sydney metropolitan area and are expanding into the Queensland Space! We are looking for passionate, caring, motivated, fun individuals that want to assist our participants in living their best life.
  • At Aequalis, we strive to create a suitable match between participant and support worker, as we want our support workers to enjoy support and be engaged.
  • Aequalis supports people from all different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities and upbringing, as such, Aequalis strives itself on hiring people from all different walks of life.
  • Experience is a bonus but not a must. We believe that we can provide a great first step into the disability industry or have the opportunity to strengthen your career.
  • If you are currently at University or Tafe, our sessions times are very flexible and work great with a university timetable. We work with you to find the best suitable time for yourself and out participants.

About the role

Aequalis provides a rewarding experience to mentor and support people with a disability. Aequalis prides itself on putting a focus on relationships so when workers come on board, we want to get to know your interests and skills so that we can match up your personality with appropriate participants that you will enjoy supporting. We believe it’s not as simple as assigning a participant to a worker, but instead finding a suitable match between a participant and support worker who will enjoy spending time together.

Working with Aequalis will allow you to help people with disabilities achieve goals, work toward independent living and engage pro-socially within their community. As a support worker you will engage with participants through the following support services:

  • In-Home Support: Family based support: domestic duties, establishing/keeping to routines; cooking, cleaning, and financial skills and budgeting.
  • Transport Services: Transporting participants to complete daily activities, attend appointments, go to and from school/work and participate in community activities.
  • Development of Daily Living and Life Skills: Helping participants become more independent with daily skills, including: public transport awareness, financial skills, budgeting, pursuing studies and/or work, drivers license achievements, and other tasks.
