The Role
No day is the same, the Youth Worker role involves providing direct supervision and care to those who are under the age of 18.
As a Youth Worker, you are required to provide support to children and young people through developing life skills, fostering appropriate relationships with others and being a positive role model.
Some responsibilities include:
- Implement and follow individualised care plans, considering specific disability-related needs.
- Establish and support structured daily routines, including tasks like wake-up and bedtime, chores, meal prep, and homework assistance, with adaptations for disabilities.
- Assist individuals in engaging their culture and local communities through recreational activities and programs
- Foster the development of life skills tailored to individual abilities and challenges.
- Provide written reports through progress notes and report writing
- Support the involvement and facilitate contact with family, assist in developing and maintaining family relationships
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant qualification (minimum Certificate IV)
- Experience as a Youth or Disability Support Worker
- Understanding of child protection legislation
- Ability to write sound reports
- Language proficiency
- Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
- Police Check
- Working With Children's Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- First Aid & CPR Certificate
- ABN
- Drivers licence and car
