About the role:
We are currently seeking a part-time Youth Support Worker to join our team in Emerald. Our Youth Support Worker will provide access and case management support to young people who are at risk of disconnecting from their family or community.
What will a typical day look like?
- Work directly with young people and their families providing needs assessments, case management, coordination and referral, one on one support, information provision and skill development.
- Improve the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in their home using prevention and early intervention strategies.
- Engage families residing in commercial housing or other emergency accommodation, using a range of counselling and strength-based therapeutic interventions, tools, perspectives and strategies to improve wellbeing and safety of children, young people and their families.
- Promote and develop positive working relationships with schools, organisations, community services, stakeholders, and networks to improve support for young people.
- One-on-one support to help young people assess their circumstances and strengths, and make choices, decisions, and plans; and assist young people to develop social and personal skills for independent and successful community living.
- Contribute to and facilitate the delivery of programs and interventions that will encourage the development of knowledge, skills, strengths, and decision making for young people.
- Use databases and systems to maintain high quality participant records, plans, assessments, and outcomes.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination
- Tertiary qualifications and experience in a discipline relating to the Behavioural Sciences or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
- Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar role
