The Downer Water team is undertaking a program of works for the DOWSP programs - Water Southern zone and Wastewater Regional zone. This is a project delivery team for water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations and wastewater treatment plants.
THE ROLE
Based out of our modern and vibrant office in Bowen Hills, we have an opportunity for a recent graduate or safety coordinator to join the Downer Zero Harm team. As an up and coming Safety professional, you will gain access to experienced experts and will be provided with hands on experience and mentorship within the diverse world of construction. This dynamic role will have a mix of office and site-based exposure and will have a focus on bringing people together to ensure we achieve our Safety objectives whilst contributing to the innovation of the business.
The main responsibilities include:
- Conduct scheduled desktop, site audits and inspections against plans, procedures and risks to meet Downer and the client’s and legislative requirements.
- Assist in the governance, implementation, improvement and maintenance of Zero Harm Management system.
- Support and participate in the investigation and analysis of workplace safety events to identify and facilitate the sharing of lessons learned relevant to improving Zero Harm performance.
- Assist the Project Teams to promote a positive safety culture through provision of information from initiatives including site Safety Walks, Observations and Toolbox Talks.
- Support the Projects proactive risk reduction and continuous improvement program.
ABOUT YOU
- Undergraduate degree in a safety related discipline and/or previous experience in a safety role with relevant WHS qualifications.
- Excellent written and verbal skills with an emphasis on reporting.
- The ability to in train, coach and develop various stakeholders on site and in the office.
- Collaborative communication style with the ability to work effectively as a member of a team which contributes to relationships creating success.
- Positive and professional attitude with the ability to work with a variety or stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to work 4 days a week in the office and 1 day out in the field.
