Exciting opportunity for experienced Senior People Partner to join a NSW government department for a 6 month contract role with possible extension
The Senior People Partner provides expert strategic and technical human resource advice to support clients to effectively manage their people, achieve change and business outcomes. through excellent stakeholder relationships and continuous service improvement activities which includes the coordination, development and implementation of strategic HR solutions aligned with business objectives to address key workforce challenges for the short, medium and long-term.Key accountabilities:
• Operate as a strategic partner to deliver technical and strategic human resource advice across a range of areas such as performance management, issue resolution, human resource programs and policy.
• Build collaborative stakeholder relationships that ensure cooperation and commitment to achieve effective people strategies and programs.
• Identify and deliver human resources initiatives in partnership with other team members to build performance that supports people and business objectives.
• Provide case management support from initial review to completion phases in line with policy and legislative requirements and facilitates best practice outcomes.
• Role model high standards of professional behaviour and ethics and ensure behaviour is consistent with the Code of Ethics and Conduct, values and policies.
• Provide expert advice to clients to develop awareness of human resource policies, to promote compliance and facilitate best practice outcomes and mitigate risk.
• Develop and implement AHO recruitment strategy consistent with the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) and operational requirements. Monitor and manage service levels.
• Facilitate development and implementation of the AHO’s succession plan, workforce plan and staff engagement plan.
Other notes:
This is a hands-on, high-touch, customer-centric role in a unique and dynamic environment. The position manages a Recruitment Coordinator and a Project Officer, in tandem with the Manager, People Strategy & Development to whom this role reports.
The ideal candidate will have:
• at least 3 years experience working in NSW Government
• Deep respect for and understanding of Aboriginal culture and history
• Will be hands-on, high-touch, roll-up-your-sleeves, empathetic and fair with the highest level of discretion dealing with sensitive matters.
• Will be patient and helpful as a Manager and as a collaborator. A problem-solver in approach.
• Must be able adept at applying NSW Government policies and procedures with a manner that is culturally appropriate.
• The organisation is about 220 people across NSW, dealing in a large variety of roles, some of them very challenging frontline roles
• Must be adept at using a variety of systems including all Microsoft office products
