Project Wine is a contract winery located in the Langhorne Creek wine region. Our winery processes up to 15,000 tonnes of grapes annually from many wine regions of South Australia. Langhorne Creek is 30 minutes from Mount Barker and 60 minutes from Adelaide.
We are seeking a Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker to join our team for vintage 2024 with the possibility of ongoing employment.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Receival and inspection of fruit into the winery for quality and material other than grapes.
- Supervision of the crushing and pressing teams during allocated shifts.
- Prepare work instructions for cellar operations and issue to cellar staff.
- Update work instructions and analysis results into client file records.
- Liaise with contract clients and follow required winemaking specifications.
- White and Red Ferment management.
- Ensure the timely submission of samples to the winery laboratory.
- Assist the winemaking team with general winery planning and logistics.
- Undertake Laboratory Analysis if required.
- Any other general winemaking duties that will assist the winemaking team.
- Tertiary qualifications in Oenology.
- Experience in winemaking processes, with the ability to follow client specifications and style requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure, follow instructions and be part of a team.
- Excellent time management capabilities in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills with attention to detail.
- Lead teams, build working relationships and focus on priorities.
- Ensure compliance of WH&S, EPA, HACCP & Other accreditation policies.
- Winemaking or cellar experience with an ability to confidently operate and/or supervise winery machinery.
- Forklift license preferred.
- Drivers Licence and own reliable transport is essential as no Public Transport is available.
- Be prepared to work flexible vintage hours as required.
